Minecraft and kebab: Erling Haaland reveals key to happy relationship with girlfriend

Manchester City star Erling Haaland has shared a secret behind his happy relationship with girlfriend Isabel Johansen and it is not expensive dates or lavish gifts.

Haaland, 25, explained that, aside from training and playing, his and Isabel's ideal evenings often consist of playing Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time, developed by Mojang Studios.

"This will probably sound a bit embarrassing to her, but she likes to play [games]. So we play Minecraft together. We build houses and all that. Or we go home to Bryne and order kebabs," Haaland said, as quoted by Goal.

The Man City star previously revealed that he is an avid fan of Minecraft.

Isabel, 22, also has a background in football and trained at Bryne FK youth academy, where she met Haaland as a child. The couple has been dating since Haaland's stint at Borussia Dortmund.

The couple welcomed their first son in December 2024, and rumors of a wedding may soon follow.

"At a wedding, you probably want some of the best food you can eat, so it could easily be kebab," he told The Sun.

Due to Manchester City's packed schedule, Haaland admits it is difficult to balance being a full-time father. He revealed he will miss his son's first birthday because it coincides with a match day.

"I have to play a game on his birthday. There are many who miss birthdays. I think Pep would have been a bit angry if I had asked. But after my career, I can be at every birthday," he added.

On the pitch, Haaland has been in exceptional form, scoring 15 goals for both club and country since the start of the season. Since joining Man City in 2022, Haaland has scored 133 goals in 153 matches, making him the club's ninth-highest scorer in history. He also surpassed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to become the Norwegian player with the most goals in the Premier League, with 93 goals in 103 games.

Haaland also made history in the Champions League, becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals in just 49 games, during Man City's 2-0 win over Napoli earlier this month.
