Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes saved the day after he assisted a passenger who fainted on a flight to Lisbon, Portugal.

During an EasyJet flight with teammate Diogo Dalot from Manchester to join the Portugal national team on Monday, Fernandes noticed a man who appeared to have lost consciousness near the back of the plane. Fernandes quickly called out "Excuse me! We need help!" twice, alerting the flight crew, The Sun reported.

According to passenger Susanna Lawson, Fernandes helped the man to an empty seat while flight attendants provided assistance.

"He stayed with them and made sure he was OK," Lawson told Business Cloud. "He wasn't looking for any attention, just genuinely helping."

After the plane landed, Lawson and other passengers took a selfie with the 30-year-old midfielder.

"He was lovely and even took the selfie himself," Lawson added. "If you didn’t know who he was, you’d think he was just any other passenger."

Fernandes, who began his career at Boavista’s youth academy before playing in Italy for Novara, Udinese, and Sampdoria, returned to Portugal to make his name with Sporting.

He joined Manchester United in January 2020 for a transfer fee potentially reaching $85 million and quickly became a key player before wearing the captain’s armband. Fernandes has amassed over 20 million followers on social media.

Fernandes is set to play for Portugal against Poland on Nov. 15 at the Dragao Stadium in Porto in the UEFA Nations League. Portugal currently lead group A1 and are close to securing a spot in the quarterfinals.
