Khusanov landed in Tashkent on March 17 and was welcomed as a national hero. Shortly after his arrival, his former coach Ulyqbek Asanbayev surprised him with a Mercedes-Benz G-Class worth around $330,000. The 21-year-old defender, who earns approximately $320,000 per month at Man City, was visibly moved by the gift and immediately took it for a test drive.
Asanbayev played a pivotal role in Khusanov's early career. In 2022, he facilitated Khusanov's move to Energetik-BGU Minsk in Belarus, before the defender transferred to French club Lens in 2023.
In January 2024, Asanbayev once again played a key role in Khusanov's high-profile transfer to Manchester City for $43 million. The first Uzbek player to feature in the Premier League, Khusanov has already made eight appearances for his new club, scoring one goal. He was noted for his performance in Man City's Champions League play-off second leg against Real Madrid, where he successfully locked out Brazilian star Vinícius Junior.

Khusanov has been a key player for Uzbekistan national team, earning 18 caps since 2023. He played a crucial role in Uzbekistan's win at the 2023 U20 Asia Cup and helped the team finish as runners-up in the 2024 U23 Asian Cup.
Uzbekistan will face Kyrgyzstan on March 20 and Iran on March 25 in the third round of World Cup qualifiers. The team currently sit second in Group A with 13 points after six matches, trailing Iran by three and leading the UAE by three.
If Uzbekistan finish in the top two after 10 matches, they will secure direct qualification to the 2026 World Cup. If they finish third or fourth, they will have to compete in the fourth round for a playoff spot.
