Coach Shin Tae-yong believes the right strategy and positive spirit would help Indonesia beat Vietnam in their next AFF Cup clash.

"Vietnam are really strong and are the number one contender for the AFF Cup title this year. However, Indonesia are not afraid. I'm confident the team will claim a good result if they play well, believe in themselves and give their best," Shin said after Indonesia defeated Laos 5-1 on Sunday.

Shin and Vietnam head coach Park Hang-seo have met 10 times when both were still coaching clubs in South Korea, with Shin winning eight and drawing one. But when the two met again in World Cup qualifiers this year as national team coaches, Park's Vietnam beat Shin's Indonesia 4-0.

In AFF Cup this year, Indonesia have six points after two victories, the same as Vietnam but with more goals. The two teams will go head to head on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to the next round.

In the last five encounters with Indonesia, Vietnam won all.

"We are looking forward to the next game with Vietnam. A victory against them would mean a lot to us," Indonesia forward Ifran Jaya said.

The game will kick off at 7:30 (Hanoi time) and will be reported live on VnExpress International.
