A thrashing 6-1 victory over Thai Nguyen on Thursday saw HCMC I Women's FC claim the national football championship title with one fixture remaining.

After beating Hanoi I Watabe in the last fixture, HCMC only needed one more point in the last two games to triumph. Wishing to lift the trophy in fashion, they beat Thai Nguyen 6-1. With this their ninth league title, the team need only one more to equal Hanoi.

HCMC dominated their clash against Thai Nguyen right from the onset, Huynh Nhu scoring a powerful goal in the 11th minute. Thai Nguyen managed a penalty equalizer 21 minutes later.

In the 40th minute, HCMC took the lead with a header from Hoai Luong, scoring another three minutes later to make it 3-1 after the first half. The second half saw little resistance from Thai Nguyen, who struggled to contain a persistently offensive HCMC. Despite the valiant efforts of Thai Nguyen's keeper, HCMC scored three more goals in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Hanoi also clinched a victory on Wednesday to retain second place, with Than Khoang San Vietnam currently in third.

The last league fixture will occur on Saturday.

The national women’s football league, organized by Vietnam Football Federation, takes place from September 22 to December 13 with eight teams playing each other twice weekly in one season.
