Ho Chi Minh City Wings have signed American players Makinde London and Jeremy Smith for this national VBA basketball league season.

London is a 25-year-old power forward with an ideal height (2.08 meters). Previously, he played three years for Chattanooga Mocs in the U.S.’s NCAA Division I, then Axpo Legnano in Italian league Serie A2. He is known for his work rate, defensive and three-point shooting ability.

Smith is 1.91-meters tall and plays as a point guard. He spent his college career playing for Nicholls State in NCAA Division I. After graduating in 2014, Smith had spells in Australia, Iceland, England and Cyrpus. He was in high form during the 2019-2020 season, playing for Michelin Etha Engomis in Cypriot Division A. On average, the 30-year-old scored 20.5 points and had 3.6 assists per game in 21 appearances. His strength also includes dribbling and dunking.

Before HCMC Wings, Saigon Heat, Hanoi Buffaloes and Thang Long Warriors have also signed new American players.

VBA was supposed to start on June 4, but the date was pushed back due to the new wave of Covid-19 in the country.
