On the second matchday of UMB 3C Grand Prix 2021 in South Korea, Tran Quyet Chien and Nguyen Quoc Nguyen registered impressive wins.

After a difficult start to the first day, Chien and Nguyen returned to top form with important victories to climb in their groups.

The game between Nguyen and Semih Sayginer, one of the top cueists in Turkey, ended with a win for the Vietnamese. In the first set, Sayginer took the lead, though in the last minutes, Nguyen came back strong to win 13-10. He kept the momentum going in the second set and won 15-8.

Nguyen secured another win against South Korean female cueist Han Ji-eun with a score of 14-9 in the first set and 25-3 in the second.

After two days in the tournament, Nguyen got one draw and two wins, topping group A.

Chien proved the loss on the first matchday was just an accident as he claimed victory in both his games. He enjoyed an easy win against Spanish cueist Antonio Montes with a score of 15-11 in the first set and 23-8 in the second.

Chien had a bit of challenge when he played South Korean cueist Kang Ja-in. In the first set, Kang won 15-8, but Chien came back in the second set to win 19-8. The decisive third set saw Chien wrapping it up with an 11-6 victory.

Two wins pushed Chien to third in group C.

On the next matchday, Nguyen will enter tough matches with renowned South Korean cueist Lee Chong Bok and the world’s number one cueist, Dick Jaspers from the Netherlands, while Chien only has one match with Turkish female cueist Gulsen Degener.

UMB 3C Grand Prix 2021 takes place from July 5 to 18 in South Korea and gathers many top-class cueists. The winner of this tournament will pocket $300,000.
