The end of group stage matches has left two semifinal pairs standing in the SEA Games 31 men's football contest: Vietnam-Malaysia and Thailand-Indonesia.

Held 2-2 by Cambodia Monday, Malaysia lost the group B’s top place to Thailand, who defeated Laos 1-0 to end up with nine points after four matches.

Vietnam topped Group A with 10 points.

Both semifinals will be played May 19, with the Thailand-Indonesia clash to kick off 4 p.m. at the Thien Truong Stadium in the northern province of Nam Dinh; and the Vietnam-Malaysia encounter, 7 p.m. at the Viet Tri Stadium in the northern province of Phu Tho.

Vietnam beat Indonesia 3-0 in the final game of the SEA Games 30 edition men's to claim gold medal in the Philippines. The current hosts and defending champs waited 60 years for their second SEA Games gold.
