Singapore seemed to enter the game with a fearless mentality, ready to attack and put their opponents on the backfoot. Then Thai goalie Kawin Thamsatchanan made a mistake when he charged out in the 21st minute, but the Singaporeans blew a golden opportunity to score a goal.
Controversy erupted in the 40th minute, when Singapore's Ryhan Stewart was pushed and fell down in the penalty area, but the referee did not point to the spot.
It was Ben Davis who scored Thailand's first goal in the 45th plus 1 minute with a penalty kick and was brought down in the area later. Stewart scored an own goal in the 47th minute.
Throughout the rest of the game, Singapore focused on offense to try and score, but ended up conceding another three in the 51st, 66th, and 81st minutes, with Thailand midfielder Ekanit Panya scoring a brace and Korawich Tasa scoring one.
Despite losing 1-2 to Malaysia in their first game last Saturday, Thailand, the biggest gold medal contenders, currently top Group B with three points after two games.
Vietnam, who won gold in the previous Games, are currently second of Group A for scoring one goal less than the Philippines.
