Flight tickets to Phu Quoc are ridiculously expensive

"A cheapest Hanoi – Phu Quoc return ticket for the New Year holidays costs VND6.8 million and for very inconvenient hours. A Hanoi – Bangkok return ticket costs less than VND4.9 million. It is hard to understand that flying domestically costs more than for flying overseas. Why?"

"A return ticket from Hanoi to Bali costs less than VND5 million, much more than to Phu Quoc, while the distance is twice as long. Even a ticket from Hanoi to several Philippine islands that includes two halts costs less than for a direct flight to Phu Quoc. I expect an explanation from people in the Vietnamese aviation industry and tourism businesses in Phu Quoc."
