The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival will be held this June with teams from China, Germany and the U.S. taking part for the first time.

There will also be teams from France, Italy, Poland, Finland, and hosts Vietnam, the government's portal reported.

The opening ceremony will be held along the Han River on June 8 and the fireworks performances will be staged every Saturday through the final round on July 13.

First held in 2008 as a two-day competition, the event became a two-month festival in 2017, helping the city cement its status as a leading tourism destination.

After being held in 2019 it was canceled for the next three years due to the Covid pandemic.

Last year it made a comeback and helped the city attract nearly one million visitors, up 30% from 2019.
