Saigon's weekend: pizza fest and Disney showdown steal the spotlight

Festivals, musical performances, workshops, and sustainability fairs headline Saigon's weekend, offering diverse experiences for all interests and inviting everyone to join in the excitement.

Saigon Pizza Festival 2024

The Saigon Pizza Festival is scheduled for this weekend at Saigon Outcast, a venue known for hosting diverse events and creative community gatherings. The festival will showcase pizza-makers from different parts of the city.

The event features the availability of freshly made pizzas and drink selections including craft beers and local lagers. It also provides activities like rock climbing, skateboarding, and live music.

The festival is scheduled to take place from noon to 8 p.m. on Jan. 13. There is an entry fee of VND50,000 ($2), not including the cost of food and drinks. Saigon Outcast is at 188/1 Nguyen Van Huong Street, District 2.

The Beatles tribute show

"The Beatles Tribute Show" is a musical performance dedicated to celebrating the music of the Fab Four. The show is set to feature a range of local artists and bands and will showcase more than 40 songs from different eras of The Beatles.

The show is scheduled for Jan. 12, from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Yoko Cafe Saigon, located at 22A Nguyen Thi Dieu Street, District 3. There is a cover charge of VND100,000 ($4) per person. Interested attendees can secure their seats by booking through the cafe's Facebook page.

Acroyoga workshop

Acroyoga is a form of exercise that integrates elements of yoga, acrobatics, massage, and group sports. In January, Yen Yoga Studio will host two acroyoga workshops featuring a Korean acroyoga teacher.

The workshops aim to cater to all levels of participants, providing an opportunity for beginners to familiarize themselves with this unique sport and for experienced practitioners to enhance their skills.

The workshops are set to take place on the following dates: Workshop 1 on Jan. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, and Workshop 2 on Jan. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The first session introduces a sequence of movements and techniques while the second will further build upon the concepts introduced in the first session.

The cost for participation is VND400,000 ($16) for one workshop or VND750,000 ($30) for both. The workshops will take place at Yen Yoga Studio at 375 Hoang Sa Street, District 1.

Disney 101: The Ultimate Showdown

"Disney 101: The Ultimate Showdown" is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday and is targeted towards Disney enthusiasts. "Disney 101" serves as both a celebration for fans familiar with Disney's 101-year journey and an introductory "101" class for those wanting to understand the allure behind the brand.

Presented by ITS (Impact Theater Saigon), the show diverges from the typical concert format, offering a special program with a Disney All-Star showdown, where different Disney and Disney Channel characters will face off.

The performance involves a live band and a cast of 15 musical artists from Saigon, Hanoi, and Singapore, incorporating singing, dancing, and acting. Attendees can also engage in interactive Disney games, including a Cosplay Contest, QUIZney Trivia, and more.

The show, held at Thien Dang Theater in IMC Tower, 62 Tran Quang Khai Street, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1, begins at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 12 and 13. Sustainability fair

"Green Beginnings: Laiday Spring Sustainability Fair" takes place on Sunday with the aim of promoting sustainable living, reducing plastic and waste, and supporting environmental and social causes.

The fair features an area with eco-friendly products, a space for reusing items through swapping or donating, and a section for animal-friendly products. People can join talks about sustainable living, reducing plastic, and managing waste. There's also a drive to donate used items, workshops for upcycling, and support for charity activities like planting trees and rescuing animals.
