Quang Nam Province, home to charming Hoi An, will host the 2022 National Tourism Year hoping to attract 1.7 million foreign visitors with numerous art programs and cultural festivals.

The event’s opening ceremony will be held at Hoi An Memories Land on Hen Islet on March 25.

"This will be a great chance for Quang Nam to promote its tourism image [internationally] after nearly two years of being hit hard by the pandemic," Nguyen Thanh Hong, director of the province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said.

The province also hopes 4.2 million domestic tourists will visit and targets revenues of VND6 trillion ($263 million).

In 2019, the year before the onset of the pandemic, it had received 7.6 million visitors, over half of them foreigners.

"Quang Nam is focusing on developing new tourism products at world cultural heritages of Hoi An and My Son and world biosphere reserve Cham Islet and launching tourism promotion campaigns in the Australian and European markets," Hong added.

The province has 17,000 hotel and other rooms.
