Mid-Autumn spirit takes center stage for Hanoi weekend activities

This week in Hanoi, the Mid-Autumn Festival takes center stage among a range of exciting weekend activities, from Vietnam Design Week and Oktoberfest celebrations, to an Autumn Fair.

Vietnam Design Week 2023

Vietnam Design Week 2023, taking place from September 23 to 29 at Hanoi's Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, is a major event in Vietnam's design scene.

Organized by Vietnam Design Group, in collaboration with key institutions, it aims to honor Vietnamese designers and products.

The event features the Designed by Vietnam competition, Design of the Year 2023 award, Design Fair Vietnam, exhibitions, seminars, and various workshops. This year's theme, "Embracing Constraints," highlights creative problem-solving.

The Designed by Vietnam contest has received 150 entries, with 31 designs advancing to the exhibition, including 10 public toilet designs for Hoan Kiem Lake. The Design Fair Vietnam, held at Vuon Giam, presents nearly 50 domestic and international design and production businesses, showcasing over 100 booths.

The Temple of Literature is at 58 Quoc Tu Giam Street, Van Mieu Ward, Dong Da District. Its entrance fee is VND30,000 (US$1.23).

Hanoi autumn festival

The Hanoi Autumn Festival 2023, presented by the Hanoi People's Committee, the Hanoi Youth Union, and the Department of Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion, is back.

Taking place over three days, from September 29 to October 1, this festival promises a vibrant celebration of Hanoi's culture and community spirit.

Festival-goers can anticipate an array of experiences, including an art exhibition displaying 99 children's paintings that highlight Hanoi's charm.

Additionally, the "Autumn Hanoi" Carnival is set to captivate with its street art exhibitions. Furthermore, a gastronomic exploration of Vietnam's diverse regions is on offer, complemented by an array of traditional and contemporary games.

The event will be held at Hoan Kiem Lake walking street area, which passes through downtown streets including Trang Tien, Dinh Le, as well as Hoan Kiem Lake itself.

Hanoi culinary space 2023

The event "Hanoi culinary space 2023" offers visitors a chance to indulge in both traditional and contemporary delicacies, and delve into the narratives behind each dish.

Guests can experience a gastronomic delight with 51 culinary stalls showcasing different dishes. Additionally, culinary artists at the event will share the intricacies of crafting traditional fare, all while exploring the significant role of cuisine in Vietnamese culture.

The event will be hosted from September 29 to October 1, at Hanoi Children's Palace, 36-38 Ly Thai To Street, Hoan Kiem District.

Oktoberfest 2023

JW Marriott Hanoi, in partnership with the German Business Association (GBA), is hosting Oktoberfest 2023 from September 28 to 30.

The event offers an experience into Bavarian culture, featuring traditional German cuisine, and draft beer. The festival also includes live entertainment and a lucky draw.

JW Marriott Hanoi is at 8 Do Duc Road, Me Tri Ward, South Tu Liem District. The ticket prices for Oktoberfest vary by day: VND1,700,000 ($69) per person on September 28 and 30, and VND1,800,000 ($73) on September 29.

Each Oktoberfest ticket includes entrance to the event, a personal Oktoberfest Mug to keep as a souvenir, access to a free-flowing German-themed buffet, a selection of imported and domestic premium beers (including non-alcoholic alternatives), complimentary soft drinks and water, and a chance to participate in a lucky draw.

Hanoi's autumn fair

An autumn fair will be hosted at Hanoi's Book Street, featuring a variety of activities that embrace the autumn spirit. More than 30 stalls will showcase an array of books, crafts, jewelry, and handmade goods.

Attendees can also engage in workshops, including painting, crafting statues, making bracelets, and sculpting clay characters.

The fair will be accessible to attendees on September 30 and October 1, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., at December 19 Street, Hoan Kiem District.
