Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has earned a prestigious five-star rating from Forbes Travel Guide for a fourth year in a row.

It is one of only two hotels in Vietnam to receive the rating, the other being Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai in Hoi An.

Three others have received four-star ratings.

The Metropole's accommodation and facilities received high marks in the 2023 guide, and its service—aided in securing five stars.

"The Metropole ambassadors know they are caretakers of a historic Grand Dame and that the service provided must... exceed expectations," general manager William Haandrikman said.

"This five-star rating from Forbes affirms that we are all working hard on service delivery.

Forbes Travel Guide's inspectors wrote in their review of the hotel: "Every corner is a compelling photo opportunity, especially in the gleaming historic wing and all-white inner courtyard."

The Path of History (and wartime bunker) tour at Metropole Hanoi is also highlighted in the Forbes review, while afternoon tea at Le Club Bar, coffee at La Terrasse and cocktails at Bamboo Bar are described as "must-do Hanoi traditions."

Le Spa du Metropole also drew accolades as a "sublime urban retreat... ensconced in what feels more like an elegant residence than a wellness center."

Forbes Travel Guide, founded in 1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, is the oldest of its kind in the U.S. and the originator of the five-star hotel rating system.

Five stars indicate "outstanding, often iconic, properties with virtually flawless service and amazing facilities."

Inspectors stay anonymously as regular guests for at least two nights to conduct their evaluations.

Forbes Travel Guide claims that only 20% of the hotels it rates receive a five-star rating.
