I bought 3 houses in HCMC in 15 years by planning my spending wisely

Housing prices in Ho Chi Minh City have never dropped in the past 15 years, yet I managed to buy three homes—here's how.

I have been tracking housing prices in HCMC and I have never seen them drop. Even when the market slowed, prices either stayed the same or rose slightly.

While they may not have skyrocketed like in previous boom years, they have always increased over time.

Many people say housing prices are far higher than their income. To me, it is simply because they do not earn enough yet. This is common even in developed countries, where buying a home in a big city is not easy for everyone.

I will not reveal my and my wife's income, but we make enough to support our family of four comfortably, take two or three domestic trips a year, and still pay off our mortgage. We cleared our bank loan in just five years. Over the past 15 years, I have bought three houses in HCMC, all in areas expected to rise in value.

Some argue that spending a lot on a house limits their opportunities for higher education and self-improvement. But why would anyone need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars just to improve their skills? Online courses are affordable, and learning materials are widely available. What matters most is the willingness to put in the effort. Buying a home does not mean giving up on self-improvement.

For me, life is about balancing work and living comfortably. Owning a home saves me from paying rent and provides my family with stability. Even while saving for a house, my family still enjoyed dining out and taking short getaway trips, which were always refreshing.

Now that I own multiple properties, rental income gives me extra financial security. At the same time, my career has progressed—I got promoted, and my salary increased. I share this story so young people can see that buying a home is not out of reach if they have the determination to make it happen.
