Foreigners are hopeful of Vietnam's plan to resume international flights from Jan. 1, but many are not sure if they meet all the criteria to enter.

"Hope this is a final date for boosting tourism and not one only to bring back Vietnamese repatriates for Tet. The regulations so far have only been a hindrance for any form of tourism to resume and normalcy to take place. A more positive and a uniform approach across the country is needed."

"It is good that the government is finally starting to reopen the borders to us fully vaccinated tourists. We also accept additional PCR tests and short-term quarantine. But to do this, there must finally be long-term visas for tourists with the option of extending them."

"Hope that Vietnam has the appropriate VTL (vaccinated travel lane) for those vaccinated travelers with vaccines approved by WHO. Ensure ART (antigen rapid test) is applied when arrive Vietnam and a verified ART/PCR result accompany the travellers. With negative results, no quarantine is needed in the VTL."

"The faster it resumes international flight, it does not only help the Vietnam economy but also helps those Vietnamese who wanted to go back home, see their family members for coming Lunar New Year which start celebrate on January 31, 2022."
Aron Tan

"What about foreigners that live here, will they be allowed to go out of Vietnam but on return self isolate at their accommodation (not a hotel) ???"
Russ Harvey

"Awesome! Now can we, long term expats come back to Vietnam? Do we still need a return visa despite the fact that we have a TRC? More clarification is needed."

"It is now coming to 22 months I have not met my fiancé and the kids. They are based in Hai Phong. Will the current guidelines allow me to go and see them?"
Rohit Bassi

"Fiancé and son live in Hoi An, wedding postponed due to Covid. I had to leave Vietnam in October 2020, just over a year now. Waiting for those international flights to resume."
