AI will not take your job if you know how to use it

As AI technology advances, many people worry it will replace human jobs, especially in fields like IT and accounting. While some see AI as a threat, others believe it will only replace workers who fail to adapt.

VnExpress readers share their opinions on how AI might replace human jobs in the future.

Reader Cuong Pham shares his concern:

"AI might not fully replace humans in the near future, but it helps people work faster and more efficiently. And when work gets done faster, fewer workers are needed. I work in IT and see how powerful AI is. Young people are right to worry about losing jobs. I think they should choose careers that require both computers and human interaction to be less affected by AI."

An expert once predicted AI could replace 80% of human accountants. This has fueled concerns among young professionals who fear technology may take over their careers. So the big question remains: Will AI cause mass unemployment by fully replacing humans?

Reader Thichgiacnguyen takes a more optimistic view:

"For me to reach the level of AI, master it, and turn it into a tool, I need expertise in two areas. First, mastering specialized accounting software. Second, mastering advanced Excel skills like SQL and BI to process data efficiently. Achieving this takes at least three years of constant practice.

Besides, have you ever dealt with Vietnam's small and medium businesses? Not all are willing to invest heavily in AI. If AI still needs an operator, why not just hire an accounting service? In both cases, businesses still need accountants to collect and input raw data. Who else would do that? And what about other tasks like negotiating contracts, setting product prices, and finding suppliers? Humans still handle those, not AI.

And what do you think is the most common accounting software in Vietnam? I personally use MISA a lot. But check its website, how many versions of the software exist? Accounting laws and regulations in Vietnam also change constantly. When that happens, who will update the AI, and how much will that cost businesses?

Even companies fully equipped with AI-powered software still calculate payroll manually before entering final figures into the system. AI can't do that, but humans can."

Reader Hoang Thanh agrees, arguing AI only threatens those who can't use the new technology:

"People fear AI will take their jobs, just like they once feared robots and machines. When robots first appeared, many workers were scared they would lose their jobs. But how many companies could actually afford installing robots? The situation then is similar to now, only replacing robots with AI. AI programs can definitely work efficiently, but the real question is: Who has the money to invest in it?

In my opinion, AI only replaces those who don't know how to use it. Skilled workers who leverage AI as a tool won't lose their jobs. Take accounting reports, AI can't generate them without human input. And someone still needs to verify the numbers. I've tested this myself. AI models like ChatGPT and Gemini sometimes fabricate data when given incomplete or unclear information, which can lead to serious financial errors."
