Vietnamese from Oman gets Covid-19

A 33-year-old woman returning from Oman has been diagnosed with Covid-19, raising Vietnam's active case count to 100.

She is now "patient 1207."

A native in northern Vinh Phuc Province, she got back to Vietnam on October 22 on flight QR976 of Qatar Airlines landing in Hanoi's Noi Bai airport.

She was sent to quarantine at a centralized facility in the city's Thanh Tri District right after her arrival and her test arrived as positive on Tuesday. She is now treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District.

By Thursday, Vietnam has had 1,207 Covid-19 cases and 1,069 of them have been recovered, 35 died. Three other patients died after recovering from Covid-19 and have not been counted in either the recoveries or the deaths.

Of the total tally, 691 are imported. The nation has gone more than two months without recording any locally transmitted case.

Worldwide, almost 1.23 million have died of Covid-19. The U.S., India and Brazil continue to take the lead of the most infected nations.

The U.S reported more than 100,000 new cases in a day on Wednesday for the first time while European countries, the U.K., Italy and Greece have applied fresh restrictions after new waves of infection. China has been battling new Covid-19 hotspot in Xinjiang, an autonomous territory in northwest China.
