The Health Ministry announced 15 new Covid-19 patients Saturday morning and all of them are related to previously confirmed infections, raising the cases in the ongoing outbreak to 176.

Of the new patients, one is in Hanoi. He is a 14-year-old boy who has had close contact with a Hanoi man who had visited central Da Nang City earlier and got the virus from a group of Chinese experts while staying at the same hotel.

The five male Chinese experts had entered Vietnam to work in early April and after completing the mandatary centralized quarantine, they had breached protocols on self-quarantine and allowed themselves to travel across different localities in northern Vietnam from Da Nang.

The remaining 14 cases are recorded in northern Bac Ninh Province.

They are six women and eight men aged from 15 to 72. All of them are associated with previously confirmed cases of the Covid-19 clusters at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.

A frontline facility in Covid-19 fight, the hospital had detected the first case Wednesday after a male doctor at the hospital tested positive for the coronavirus during an overseas trip.

Since April 27, Vietnam has recorded 176 Covid-19 community transmission cases of the new coronavirus with various clusters in 19 cities and provinces, mostly in northern and central regions. Before then, the country had been clean for over a month.

Leading the infection number is Hanoi with 72 cases, and Vinh Phuc and Ha Nam Provinces with 26 each.
