Vietnam reports 75 new Covid-19 cases

Health authorities confirmed 75 new local Covid-19 cases Monday night, bringing the total community infections in the day to 211.

Among the new cases, Bac Giang led with 30, followed by Bac Ninh (23) and Ho Chi Minh City (20). Hanoi and southern Binh Duong Province recorded one each.

The newly confirmed cases in Bac Giang have been isolated prior to the test results. All cases are related to clusters at its industrial parks.

All cases in Bac Ninh are associated with three Covid-19 clusters in Que Vo, Khac Niem, Dai Phuc and Thuan Thanh districts.

Of the new cases in HCMC, 14 cases are linked to the cluster at the HCMC's Revival Ekklesia Mission, a Christian congregation. Three other patients had come into close contact with previously confirmed patients and three were found through contact tracing.

One case was detected at Hanoi's locked down K Hospital. Meanwhile the case in Binh Duong, a 25-year-old woman, is linked to previously confirmed cases and has been isolated.

The latest additions raises the total number of confirmed infecteded Covid-19 patients to 3,211 in Bac Giang, 1,122 in Bac Ninh, 483 in Hanoi, 422 in HCMC and eight in Binh Duong.

In the same day, 141 patients were discharged.

Vietnam has recorded 5,833 local cases in 39 cities and provinces since April 27.
