Vietnam records three new Covid-19 cases

Vietnam confirmed one domestic transmission in the northern pandemic hotspot of Hai Duong and two imported Covid-19 cases Wednesday.

"Patient 2528" was had been quarantined in Hai Duong since March 8 via contact tracing.

"Patient 2527" is a 31-year-old Vietnamese woman from the northern province of Dien Bien. She arrived March 7 in Ho Chi Minh City from Dubai, transiting in Singapore. She was quarantined upon arrival.

"Patient 2529" is a 55-year-old expert from the Philippines who arrived in February 24 in HCMC and was quarantined in the southern province of Long An.

The country has recorded 895 local cases since January 28 in 13 localities led by Hai Duong (711), Quang Ninh (61), HCMC (36) and Hanoi (35).

The national Covid-19 tally stands at 2,529 with 2,004 recoveries and 35 deaths.

Among the active patients, 208 have tested negative for the virus at least once.

Vietnam has vaccinated 522 people since March 8. Five of them are hospitalized after developing complications such as anaphylaxis, diarrhea, allergies and low pulse pressure.

Covid-19 has claimed 2.6 million lives globally.
