Vietnam records 92 new local Covid cases

Vietnam recorded 92 local Covid-19 cases Monday noon in five localities, the Ministry of Health announced.

68 cases were recorded in Bac Giang, 14 in HCMC, seven in Lang Son, two in Ha Tinh and one in Hanoi.

All the cases in the northern province of Bac Giang are associated with existing outbreaks in the province’s industrial parks.

Ten cases in HCMC have made contact with confirmed coronavirus cases, while the other four are screened inside hospitals.

Six cases in the northern province of Lang Son had made contact with coronavirus cases, while the other one was detected within the community.

Two cases in the central province of Ha Tinh also made contact with previously confirmed coronavirus cases.

The case in Hanoi is being contact traced.

Almost six weeks into the new wave, Vietnam has recorded 5,758 infections in 39 of its 63 cities and provinces.

Of the cases, Bac Giang has the highest number of infections, at 3,181, followed by neighbor Bac Ninh with 1,099. Hanoi comes third with 437 cases including more than 150 in two locked down hospitals, and HCMC with 402.
