Vietnam recorded 80 more local Covid-19 cases Friday noon in four localities, including Hanoi and HCMC.

44 cases were recorded in the northern province of Bac Giang, 23 in neighboring Bac Ninh, 11 in HCMC and two in Hanoi.

All the cases in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are associated with existing outbreaks at the provinces' industrial parks and other locked down areas.

Nine cases in HCMC are linked to the Revival Ekklesia Mission cluster, a self-described Christian congregation. They live in Thu Duc City, Binh Tan and Go Vap districts and have made contact with existing coronavirus cases.

The other two cases in HCMC live in Thu Duc and were detected after they went to a hospital for check-ups. Contact tracing efforts are ongoing to figure out the sources of their infections.

The cases in Hanoi are all close contact cases related to a cluster at the T&T company.

Vietnam has been suffering the fourth wave of Covid-19 for over a month. 5,088 local infections have been recorded in 37 of its 63 cities and provinces.

Bac Giang and Bac Ninh continue to account for most of the cases, at 2,757 and 988, followed by Hanoi with 4302 of whom 143 are in two hospitals under lockdown, and HCMC with 299.
