Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally in the fourth wave starting late April rose to 927,494 after the Health Ministry confirmed 5,613 new cases Tuesday.

The three places with the highest numbers of new infections were Ho Chi Minh City's neighbors Dong Nai Province with 858 cases and Binh Duong Province with 780, and the city itself, with 682.

In the past seven days, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, another HCMC's neighboring province, and the Mekong Delta's provinces of Bac Lieu, Kien Giang, and An Giang are those with the highest infections, recording more than 100 cases per 100,000 population.

On Tuesday, the ministry announced another 74 Covid-19 deaths, including 31 in HCMC and 19 in Binh Duong. The total Covid death toll so far rose to 22,205, accounting for around 2.4 percent of all infections.

Of more than 85,000 patients under treatment, 2,950 are heavy cases.
