50 cases were recorded in HCMC, 21 in Long An, 18 in Bac Giang, 12 in Binh Duong, three in Hung Yen, two each in Phu Yen and Bac Ninh, and one in Quang Ninh.
Of the cases in HCMC, 30 had made contact with previously confirmed patients, nine are linked to Son Ky Market in Tan Phu District, seven are associated with a scrap collection point on De Tham Street, District 1, and four are associated with Trung Son Food company at the Tan Tao industrial park in Binh Tan District.
All the cases in Long An, Quang Ninh and Phu Yen had made contact with coronavirus cases.
All the cases in Hung Yen, Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are either contained within industrial parks and other locked down areas.
The cases in Binh Duong are linked to an outbreak at the Vietnam Housewares company in Thuan An Town.
Vietnam has recorded 188 cases on Friday.
The country's ongoing Covid-19 wave, the fourth and by far the most challenging, started on April 27 and has seen 11,111 infections in 47 of its 63 cities and provinces.
Bac Giang still leads with 5,546 cases, followed by HCMC with 2,343 cases.
