Vietnam confirms 51,921 new Covid-19 cases

The Health Ministry announced 51,921 new Covid-19 patients in 61 provinces and cities on Monday.

The figure included 28,740 cases from the central province of Thanh Hoa, which were detected on previous days but yet to be added to the national database.

The addition made Thanh Hoa the locality with the most cases confirmed on Monday, 28,959, followed by Hanoi with 2,011 cases and the northern province of Yen Bai with 1,271 cases.

The average number of new infections recorded in the past week was 39,280 cases per day, down 37 percent compared to the average of the previous week.

In the past 24 hours, 17 Covid-19 deaths were confirmed, raising the death toll in Vietnam to 42,830.

The average number of deaths recorded in the last week was 27 cases, down 34 percent compared to the previous week.

Around 80.1 percent of the population have received two vaccine doses.
