Vietnam confirms 267,534 new Covid-19 cases

The Health Ministry announced 267,534 new domestic Covid-19 patients Wednesday in 62 cities and provinces.

Most of the new cases were recorded in Nghe An at 67,624 and Thanh Hoa at 31,226. The figures included cases recorded from previous days but yet to be added to the national database

Hanoi confirmed 26,220 new cases.

In the last seven days Vietnam recorded 168,954 cases a day, up 33 percent from the previous period.

In the past 24 hours, 62 Covid-19 patients have died, including five in Hanoi.

Since the pandemic started last year, the death toll in Vietnam has climbed to 41,607, or 0.6 percent of all infections.

In the latest wave that hit the country in late April, more than 6.8 million cases have been confirmed and 3.5 million them have recovered.

So far, 79.4 percent of the population have received two vaccine doses.
