A Vietnam Airlines plane flying from Da Nang to Hanoi Wednesday morning had to make a U-turn minutes after taking off after an engine warning signal.

A Vietnam Airlines representative said the A321 plane had taken off from Da Nang Airport at 10:31 a.m. But, due to a "warning signal related to engine No. 2," it had to turn around and return to the airport in 20 minutes.

All 111 passengers on the plane were transferred to another plane, which took off at around 1:30 p.m. the same day.

Doan Hung, deputy director of the Central Region Airport Authority, said technicians at the Da Nang Airport found there was not enough air blowing in the combustion chamber, meaning not all the fuels were expended to run the engine. There might have been smokes at the engine, but "there was no burning," Hung said.

No further information about the incident was announced by Vietnam Airlines. The A321 plane is being checked, authorities said.
