Vietnam adds 56 cases to domestic Covid-19 count

The infection tally of Vietnam's ongoing Covid-19 wave rose by 56 Monday morning with the new patients recorded in six northern localities.

Of the new patients, 33 are in Bac Giang Province. They are all linked to clusters at Quang Chau and Van Trung industrial parks in Viet Yen District.

Hanoi recorded eight patients, including four that have had contact with Covid-19 patients. Among the others, one was found positive via mass testing and three were detected with the virus after one of their family members have tested positive.

Bac Ninh reported seven cases who have had contact with Covid-19 patients.

For the five cases in Lang Son, three are workers at Quang Chau industrial park and two are associated with Covid-19 patients.

Two cases in Dien Bien are linked to previously confirmed cases and the one in Hai Duong is found in an affected area that has been isolated.

With the new patients added, Vietnam has recorded 2,221 local Covid-19 cases in 30 cities and provinces since the new wave started on April 27.

Among the infected localities, six provinces have gone 14 days without any new cases. They are Yen Bai and Quang Ninh in the north, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam and Nghe An in the central region and Dong Nai in the south.

Bac Giang has continued to have the highest infections so far, with 952 cases, followed by its neighbor Bac Ninh with 474.
