A bus carrying an Indian tourist group to Da Lat in the Central Highlands collided with a truck on a pass, injuring six people and causing an hour-long traffic jam on Sunday.

The 29-seat passenger bus carrying a group of Indian tourists on Bao Loc Pass on its way to nearby resort town Da Lat collided with a truck carrying plastic waste when going downhill from the opposite direction at around 12:15 p.m.

The accident made the truck fall onto its side, with the waste spilling onto the road. The passenger bus broke its front window.

Five Indian passengers on the bus and the truck driver were injured. They were moved to Lam Dong 2 General Hospital for treatment

After the incident, Bao Loc Pass was blocked in both directions for more than an hour. Authorities moved the vehicles from the scene at 1:30 p.m.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.

Bao Loc Pass is 10 km long and is a vital route connecting the southeast region with Da Lat. The pass has many winding and dangerous bends, with accidents often occurring here. The locality has installed cameras at bends on the pass to monitor reckless drivers.

A 67-km long Tan Phu-Bao Loc expressway is currently being built to reduce traffic pressure on the pass.
