Holiday traffic accidents kill 56

56 people died and 22 were left in critical condition due to traffic accidents in the past four days, according to the Ministry of Health.

From April 29 to May 2, a total 2,876 people visited hospitals for examination of injuries caused by traffic accidents and more than 1,500 of them were admitted.

Of the 56, a total of 14 passed away at healthcare facilities, 30 died en route to hospitals and 12 passed at home.

Vietnam’s five-day holiday took in the Hung King's Death Commemoration on April 29, Reunification Day on April 30 and Labor Day on May 1, plus a further two days of compensation as the holiday fell on a weekend.

Last year, 63 were killed in traffic accidents over the four days of April 30 and May 1 weekend.
