From April 29 to May 2, a total 2,876 people visited hospitals for examination of injuries caused by traffic accidents and more than 1,500 of them were admitted.
Of the 56, a total of 14 passed away at healthcare facilities, 30 died en route to hospitals and 12 passed at home.
Vietnam’s five-day holiday took in the Hung King's Death Commemoration on April 29, Reunification Day on April 30 and Labor Day on May 1, plus a further two days of compensation as the holiday fell on a weekend.
Last year, 63 were killed in traffic accidents over the four days of April 30 and May 1 weekend.
