Three Interpol-wanted South Koreans masquerading as "experts" in Vietnam were arrested by HCMC police on Thursday.

Jeong Kiwon, 49, Park Jaihyung, 40, and Jang Woojin, 43, were apprehended by HCMC police and handed over to South Korean authorities.

According to Interpol profiles, Jeong Kiwon and his accomplices operated illegal online gambling sites based in South Korea. They also ran online gambling games in Vietnam.

Jeong Kiwon and his accomplices were alerted to Vietnamese investigations prior to their arrest and were thus able to delete their online data and escape the country.

The three entered Vietnam in 2022 masquerading as foreign experts. They were granted visas and temporary resident cards without reporting their residence addresses. They constantly moved in order to avoid detection.

Authorities eventually managed to ascertain the trio’s true identities, and police then arrested the three accused at a HCMC apartment.
