Mild Covid-19 cases in Hanoi and Da Nang would be treated at home if enough safety criteria are met, authorities affirmed.

Hanoi Standing Party Committee on Monday stated it had agreed to a proposal to treat and manage mild and asymptomatic Covid-19 cases at home. Management plans and drug distribution would be managed by medical authorities to minimize the number of cases that need to be hospitalized, it added.

Previously, Hanoi had already devised plans to treat up to 100,000 cases in the capital by categorizing hospitals and medical facilities, with patients admitted according to severity.

Also in Hanoi, over 5,500 close contacts of Covid-19 cases are being isolated at home instead of in quarantine camps.

In the central city of Da Nang, its Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on Monday announced the decision to treat mild Covid-19 cases at home as part of a trial in December. Once the trial is completed, the Da Nang Department of Health would review results before applying it officially.

Da Nang has already deployed several apps to support people with self-isolation, including close contacts of Covid-19 cases.

Hanoi has recorded over 2,200 new Covid-19 cases from Nov. 21 to 29. Around 61.8 percent of these have been fully vaccinated. More outbreaks are being recorded in the city, with no confirmed infection sources.

Throughout the past three days, Da Nang has recorded around 65 cases daily. Over 75 percent of its population have received two vaccine doses.
