Girl falls to her death in China shopping mall due to loose glass panel

A girl in China died after falling from the 4th floor in a shopping mall as the glass panel she was leaning on gave way.

The incident happened at night on Nov. 16 in the MixC shopping mall in China’s Shandong Province, The Straits Times reported.

A video that circulated online showed the girl leaning against a glass panel near a moving escalator, her hand on its handrail. The panel suddenly broke off and caused the girl to lose balance, making her fall.

One witness said he was shopping on the first floor when he heard a large sound. The ambulance took over 10 minutes to arrive at the scene due to traffic jams, he added.

A safety inspection was conducted at the mall just 10 days before the incident, broadcaster New Tang Dynasty Television reported.

The mall has already resumed operations.
