Vietnam recorded four imported Covid-19 cases from France Thursday evening, taking its active case count to 77.

The three men and a woman aged 25-29, numbered 1174-1177, had landed October 21 at HCMC’s Tan Son Nhat Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5010. They were quarantined on arrival and their samples were confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday.

They are currently being treated at the Long Dien District medical center in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province which borders HCMC.

Seven others on the same flight had previously been confirmed infected.

Of Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally of 1,177 cases, 1,062 have recovered and 35 have died. Most of the deaths have been of elderly patients with underlying conditions like diabetes and kidney failure.

Of the 77 active cases, 15 have tested negative for the novel coronavirus at least once. Around 15,000 people are in quarantine nationwide.

The country has recorded no community transmission in nearly two months.

Globally, infection cases have gone beyond 44.8 million and more than 1.18 million patients have died.
