Four men have been caught by traffic police for parking their truck on an emergency lane of the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway in northern Vietnam to gamble.

The men were handed over to police in Hai Duong Province to be put under investigation for illegal gambling, the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security said on Saturday.

At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, traffic police officers discovered a truck parked on the emergency lane of the six-lane expressway that runs from Hanoi to Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hai Phong.

Upon inspection, the police discovered that the driver and three men, aged 36-43, were gambling in the cabin.

They admitted to the police they were delivering goods, but on the way home, they stopped to rest in the emergency lane and gambled.

The amount of gambling money has not been announced by the authorities.
