Four people including a Cambodian national were arrested as they drove a car with 32 kg of drugs towards HCMC, Binh Phuoc Province police said Thursday.

They will be investigated for drug trafficking.

Police officers in the southern province, nearly three hours drive from HCMC, said they had been watching the group for a while. On Tuesday, the car was proceeding from Binh Long Town towards HCMC when they were stopped and questioned. They told the police that they were carrying three cans of honey to HCMC.

However, when police searched the car, they found 16 kg of meth, 10 kg of ketamine and 5 kg of heroin. Another search at the house the men were staying in revealed two guns, five bullets and a kilogram of drugs.

Vietnam has some of the world's toughest drug laws.

Those convicted of possessing or smuggling more than 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kilograms of meth face death penalty.
