Authorities in Da Nang found the body of a foreign tourist at the base of a cliff on the Son Tra Peninsula on Thursday, after an hours-long search-and-rescue operation.

The incident came to light after local authorities found an abandoned motorbike near a luxury resort during a patrol.

Documents belonging to a foreign national were found inside the vehicle, prompting immediate concerns about a possible accident.

Suspecting the tourist might have fallen off the steep cliffs nearby, police, military personnel and rescue teams were quickly mobilized. The challenging terrain, characterized by steep slopes and dense vegetation, complicated search efforts. A specialized rescue team was later called in, using a pulley system to access the area beneath the cliff.

By evening, the rescue personnel found the decomposing body of the tourist at the cliff's base. Authorities secured the area, and the body was transported from the scene for further investigation.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been publicly disclosed, and the investigation is ongoing.
