A fire broke out at a ticket counter about three meters from The Huc Bridge, which leads to Ngoc Son Temple, one of Hanoi’s most popular tourist attractions, on Saturday evening.

The blaze was discovered at 6 p.m. At the time of the fire, there were still groups of tourists standing on the bridge. Police in Hoan Kiem District quickly dispatched two fire trucks to the scene, and by 6:12 p.m. the fire was brought under control.

The ticket booth, which is about 1.5 square meters wide, was burned down. No casualties were reported.

According to local authorities, the fire was caused by a short circuit.

Authorities said the ticket booth is located separately from Ngoc Son Temple and The Huc Bridge, so the fire did not affect either of the monuments.

This was the first time the The Huc bridge area caught fire.

Ngoc Son, located on the iconic Hoan Kiem Lake, is one of the most famous temples in the capital.

The bridge is dedicated to Tran Hung Dao, who led armies to repel three major Mongol invasions in the 13th century.

To enter Ngoc Son Temple visitors must cross The Huc wooden bridge, which was built in 1865.
