Father detained as six-year-old girl allegedly abused to death

Preliminary reports revealed the girl, six, was taken to Nam Thang Long Hospital in Bac Tu Liem District before being transferred to Vietnam National Children's Hospital for emergency aid Thursday afternoon.

The children's hospital later confirmed her blood circulation had already stopped and she had died before reaching the hospital.

The father, 43, told investigators he had beaten her earlier Thursday at their house in Bac Tu Liem.

After the incident, the mother, 32, fed the girl congee and gave her 500 milligrams of Panadol for the pain around 4 p.m.

Shortly after, the girl vomited and started showing severe signs indicating the need to be hospitalized.

Police in Bac Tu Liem said Friday they are conducting a forensic investigation on the girl and have sealed off the family’s house.

They detained the father on the same day for investigation, Cong Luan newspaper reported.
