Father and children die as boat capsizes in central Vietnam

A man and both his son and daughter were killed after their boat capsized during a fishing trip in Nghe An Province.

Pham Huu Trung, 39, from Nam Dan District, drove a motorized boat to Rao Bang Dam to fish around 4 p.m. on Saturday. Joining him were his son and daughter, aged six and five.

During the trip, Trung livestreamed their activities and posted it on his social media account.

Shortly after the boat capsized, the authorities were informed and rescue forces were dispatched to the scene.

By 10 p.m. on Saturday, the bodies of Trung and the boy were found. It took until Sunday morning for rescuers to find the body of the girl.

Rao Bang Dam covers 36 hectares and can be as deep as 2 meters in some areas.
