Three planes had to delay landing at Cam Ranh International Airport in central Vietnam after a dog ran across the runway.

Nguyen Minh Khoi, deputy director of the Cam Ranh airport, verified the incident on Monday, local media reported.

Earlier this month, airport authorities found a dog near a water ditch running across a nearby runway, forcing three flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to delay landing by up to 20 minutes.

"The dog was dealt with afterwards and the planes landed safely," said Khoi, as cited by Tuoi Tre.

An investigation revealed the construction team for one of the airport’s runways raised three dogs. The gates separating the construction site from the runway were opened without anyone watching.

After the ordeal, authorities have requested the three dogs be removed from the construction site.

This is not the first time airport operations have been disrupted by uninvited pets. In January, a flight from HCMC to central Thanh Hoa Province’s Tho Xuan Airport also had to delay landing for 10 minutes due to the presence of a stray dog in an empty apron.
