Da Nang wants to spend over VND673 billion ($28.5 million) upgrading a downtown park that has been deteriorating for years.

The municipal People's Committee has proposed that the People's Council invest over VND673 billion from the national budget to upgrade the 29 Thang 3 Park (March 29th Park), where paths, entrances, gates, parking lots, public toilets and other facilities would be upgraded and renovated.

Other new fountains, lights, and sound and air conditioning systems would be installed. More trees would also be planted.

The park in downtown Da Nang, which is supposed to be the "green core" of the city, is currently in a state of disrepair and lacks several services and public infrastructures. Its main pond is severely polluted.

While there are trees, there are not enough of them to cover the entire park area, which spans around 190,000 m2. The wastewater drainage system of nearby residential areas pours wastewater directly into the park's pond, according to the People's Committee.

Upgrading and renovating the park would make it a highlight of the city and satisfy people's demand for public activities, the Committee stated.

The proposed plan calls for the upgrade to be completed in 2026.
