The arrest followed an earlier raid by the Thu Duc City police of Masteri Thao Dien after detecting suspicious signs.

They found Yang and his unidentified girlfriend under the influence of drugs when they raided their apartment on the 16th floor.

They also found three plastic bags containing drugs, tablets suspected to be synthetic drugs and various drug use paraphernalia.

It is not known how much or what kinds of drugs they seized.

Yang admitted to renting the apartment, buying the drugs and getting his girlfriend over to use them.

According to the HCMC police, criminal groups have recently started to rent luxury apartments to enable drug use by customers and other illegal activities because of the privacy and security they offer.

They plan to tighten oversight of such places to prevent illegal activities.
