2-year-old girl beaten to death by mother's friend

Mac Hoang Giang, 30, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with murder. His friend, Do Van Ngo, 27, was arrested for failing to report the crime.

Giang, who is married, frequently babysat the daughter of his 28-year-old friend. On Feb.17, while feeding the girl, Giang reportedly beat her repeatedly with a wooden stick after she refused to eat. When the child fell to the ground, Giang continued to strike her with a plastic stick, leading to the girl’s death.

Ngo, who was visiting Giang at the time, found the child’s lifeless body with multiple injuries but did not inform authorities. Later that evening, Giang contacted the child’s mother to pick up her daughter. Upon arrival, the mother found her daughter deceased and immediately alerted the police.

A forensic examination confirmed that the girl had suffered numerous injuries and bruises. Giang confessed to the crime during questioning at the police station.
