A 14-year-old girl in central Quang Nam Province was sold off for VND38 million ($1,567) by her employer at a karaoke parlor.

Quang Nam police on Monday detained Bui Nguyen Thai Ngoc, 31, and Nguyen Hong Vuong, 28, to investigate them for "trafficking of a person under 16."

Authorities said Ngoc manages a karaoke parlor in Quang Nam's Que Son District. He constantly beat the 14-year-old girl and forced her to serve customers, they said. Ngoc then arranged for the girl to be sold off to Vuong.

Vuong took the girl to nearby Quang Ngai Province and made her work at a karaoke parlor.

She was rescued by police forces of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai on Nov. 25.

Ngoc confessed to the police that he had previously sold another female employee to Vuong for VND20 million.
