The northern region should expect a month-end cold wave, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has said.

Temperatures would drop slightly and it would get cold at night and early morning. There could be strong winds in the north and potentially heavy rains in the central region at the end of the month.

However, the northern region could see temperatures around 0.5 degrees Celsius higher than the yearly average next month.

On Thursday and Friday this week and Wednesday and Thursday next week, it could rain in some areas of the north. The area from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue in the central region could experience rain from Thursday to Friday this week and from Monday to Thursday next week, the center predicts.

On Tuesday afternoon, heavy rains flooded many streets in Sa Pa in the northern highlands and felled trees in Hanoi.
