Six more people including four children have been confirmed dead due to flooding from Friday night in central Vietnam, raising the number of fatalities to at least 10.

Among the victims are two students who lived in areas flooded by nearly two meters in Da Nang's worst-hit Lien Chieu District.

Others are two small children who were swept away by floodwaters in Quang Nam Province, and two men in Thua Thien Hue Province - one falling off his boat and another slipping in floodwaters.

Da Nang on Saturday afternoon had announced four other people died in the severe flooding.

Rainfall of 700 mm brought by Storm Son Ca was dumped on Da Nang from Friday night until early Saturday morning, flooding the entire city.

Floodwaters and landslides damaged many trans-Vietnam routes including Hai Van Pass that connects Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue, which was only cleared for traffic on Sunday afternoon.

Thousands of tombs at the city's largest cemetary Hoa Son were buried by landslides or swept away by floodwaters.

Thua Thien Hue Province has received an average rainfall of 500-600 mm from Friday night, even 750-802 mm at some places. More than 19,900 houses in the province were 0.3-0.8 meters under water.
