Vietnam recorded 283 local Covid-19 cases Wednesday noon, including 201 cases detected in the northern province of Bac Giang in late May but only added to the national registry now.

The 201 cases were detected in isolated areas in Bac Giang's Viet Yen District between May 27 and 29.

Of the new cases, 52 were recorded in Bac Giang, 20 in HCMC, six in Bac Ninh, three in Ha Tinh and one in Hanoi.

All the new cases in Bac Giang are associated with outbreaks in the province's industrial parks and locked down areas.

In HCMC, 12 cases had made contact with confirmed Covid-19 patients, while the transmission source of eight others are still under investigation.

Five cases in Bac Ninh are associated with outbreaks in its industrial parks. The other case is being contact traced.

All the cases in Ha Tinh and Hanoi had made contact with confirmed coronavirus cases.

Since the new wave started on April 27, 6,328 local cases have been recorded in 39 cities and provinces, with Bac Giang and Bac Ninh accounting for the most infections, at 3,586 and 1,170.

They are followed by HCMC with 481 and Hanoi with 442, including 95 cases in a hospital under lockdown.
